Types of Leather We Clean

We clean both aniline and pigmented leathers, which are the most common types of leather used in furniture.

To determine the type of leather your furniture is made of, you can perform a few simple tests. For the water test, place a small droplet of water on the leather's surface. If it soaks in and darkens, it's likely aniline leather. If the droplet remains on top, it's pigmented leather due to its water-resistant coating. Observing the gloss and finish, aniline leather usually has a matte or low-gloss appearance, preserving a natural look, while pigmented leather appears shinier. Lastly, use the scratch test: light scratches will show on aniline leather but may be rubbed out. Pigmented leather is more scratch-resistant. These tests help identify your leather type, ensuring appropriate cleaning methods.

Frequently asked questions

How frequently should I have my leather furniture professionally cleaned?

Leather furniture should be professionally cleaned at least once every 12 to 18 months. Additionally, if your leather becomes heavily soiled or stained, it's important to have it cleaned promptly. Early professional treatment helps prevent further damage and ensures your leather remains in optimal condition.

Is it worth cleaning my heavily soiled leather?

We have successfully revitalised many heavily soiled leather pieces. It's worthwhile if your furniture is still in good condition or if you plan to keep it for a few more years until your kids are older and your pets are fully trained. Please note that a surcharge may apply for heavily soiled items.

How long should I wait before using my leather furniture after cleaning?

In most cases, the leather will be ready for use approximately 30 minutes after cleaning, depending on humidity and airflow, once the conditioner has set and it feels dry to the touch.

Do you also clean vinyl furniture?

Absolutely. Our professional-grade cleaning products are suitable for vinyl furniture and will deliver the same excellent results.

Can all stains get completely removed?

We typically achieve excellent leather cleaning results, but unfortunately, some stains may have already caused permanent discolouration, so we cannot guarantee their complete removal.

Do you repair leather?

No, you need to engage the services of a leather repairer.
